I am glad you are here, let’s get to know each other…

 

My story:

My name is Christina Menoikou and I studied Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Surrey, in the UK from which I graduated in 2021 with First Class Honours. I completed my clinical placements in various hospitals across England covering both inpatients and outpatients with various clinical conditions such as diabetes mellitus, renal failure, obesity, cardiovascular disease, post-surgery, dysphagia, enteral feeding (e.g. nasogastric feeding tube, gastrostomy), cancer etc.

 

I developed a special interest in childhood obesity during my studies hence I focused my dissertation on the evaluation of a childhood obesity intervention program in Surrey called Be your Best. I presented my research at the British Dietetic Association Research Symposium 2021 and I have been awarded as the winner in the category I presented. I still continue the research for the program and I also participate in the delivery of the program. 

After graduating, I worked for a year at the Royal Surrey Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in England, specifically at the Oncology Center, where I specialised in oncology.

My Philosophy

1. Working together.

(Each patient/ client is assessed individually and will be provided with an evidence-based and comprehensive plan based on their goals.)

 

2. Dietitians are NOT the food police.

(We are not here to judge your food choices; we are here to help you!)

 

3. Everything in moderation.

(The reality is nutrition is not black or white. It is gray. There should not be any foods that are “not allowed” in your diet unless you need to restrict certain foods due to medical diagnosis/ intolerance/ allergy/ food preferences. We will figure this out together.)

  • Experience in various clinical conditions such as insulin resistance- diabetes mellitus, polycystic ovarian syndrome, renal failure, obesity, cardiovascular disease, post-surgery, dysphagia, enteral feeding (e.g. nasogastric feeding tube, gastrostomy), cancer, irritable bowel syndrome and other gastrointestinal diseases, sports nutrition, nutrition during childhood and teenage years.
