Anna Throumpari

Clinical Psychologist

Let’s Get to Know Each Other a Little Better...

Ηello, my name is Anna Throumpari, and I am a registered Clinical Psychologist, Registration No. 1136.

I completed both my undergraduate and postgraduate studies with distinction, first at the University of Cyprus and later at the University of Nicosia.

I have always been deeply interested in studying and understanding the human psyche, both on an individual and a social level. I have been fascinated by its depth and complexity, but above all by the factors that allow us to endure, adapt, and survive even within the most traumatic environments.

I believe that psychotherapy does not provide ready-made answers. Instead, it creates the conditions in which searching for those answers becomes possible, and where change can gradually become a choice.

Philosophy

I believe psychotherapy begins when we feel safe enough to be genuine.

It is a space of encounter, where we can come to understand ourselves more deeply, make sense of our personal history, and come to terms with parts of ourselves that we may have tried to hide or change.

For me, therapy means greater awareness, greater acceptance, and ultimately greater freedom to live in a way that feels true to who we are.

In this sense, change often begins when we find a space in which we can truly be ourselves.

“What is the bravest thing you’ve ever said?” asked the boy.
“Help,” said the horse.
“Asking for help isn’t giving up,” said the horse, “it’s refusing to give up.”

Experience

I provide psychological support to adolescents, adults, and older adults.

My clinical experience has developed across a range of settings, including both private practice and specialised mental health services. Among other roles, I have worked in psychological support and clinical assessment services, in a therapeutic community supporting individuals with long-term substance use, and in a service supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and related conditions.

In my clinical work, I frequently support people experiencing relational trauma, emotional difficulties, depression, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, interpersonal difficulties, low self-esteem, grief, difficulties with emotional regulation, and issues related to identity.

My therapeutic approach is integrative and individually tailored, based on the belief that therapy should be adapted to each person’s unique needs, goals, and individual characteristics.

For this reason, I draw on techniques from a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Systemic Therapy, selecting the interventions that are most appropriate for each individual and their therapeutic journey.
