Leontios Leontiou, MSc
Counselling Psychologist
I am Leontios Leontiou, a registered counselling psychologist (Registration No. 1124). I completed both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Psychology at the University of Nicosia.
Through my training and clinical experience, I have supported individuals facing anxiety, grief, relationship difficulties, work and career-related challenges, socioeconomic stress, and other emotional difficulties. I also work with couples and older adults, and I offer therapy in both English and Greek.
My approach to therapy is integrative, drawing on psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural, and humanistic/person-centred perspectives. I adapt my way of working to the unique needs, experiences, and goals of each person, and may incorporate more structured or reflective ways of working depending on what is most helpful at the time.
I believe that therapy is built on a genuine and trusting therapeutic relationship. My aim is to offer a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where clients can feel heard, understood, and safe to explore the difficulties they may be facing, while working towards greater clarity, growth, and emotional wellbeing.

Therapeutic Approach
I view therapy as a collaborative process of developing greater understanding of oneself, one’s relationships, and the patterns that may shape emotional experiences and ways of coping. At times, people may find themselves feeling emotionally stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or repeating difficulties that are hard to fully make sense of on their own.
Through a supportive and trusting therapeutic relationship, therapy can offer space to explore these experiences more deeply, increase self-awareness, and gradually develop new ways of relating to oneself and others. This may include both gaining insight into emotional and relational patterns, as well as working in a more structured and practical way when helpful, to support coping, emotional regulation, and more adaptive ways of responding to difficulties. While therapy may involve working through painful or uncertain experiences, it can also create opportunities for growth, clarity, emotional balance, and meaningful change.
My aim is to provide a warm, thoughtful, and non-judgmental space where each person can feel heard and understood, while working at a pace that feels appropriate to their individual needs and experiences.
Experience
As part of my practicum experience, I completed clinical training at Center of Therapy and Research (KESY) and Polydynamo Strovolou, where I provided individual and couples therapy to adults experiencing relational challenges, work and career-related difficulties, socioeconomic stressors, anxiety, depression, and other psychological and emotional difficulties.
I delivered services in both English and Greek, tailoring therapeutic interventions to meet the unique needs of each client through an integrative therapeutic framework informed by Humanistic/Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) models.
In addition, I provided short-term psychological support to medical students at University of Nicosia Medical School using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and conducted individual psychological assessments. Furthermore, I completed training at Polydynamo Tseriou, where I worked collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support the elderly population through a psychosocial approach.
Currently, I work with clients at The Safe Place Project, providing psychological support within a therapeutic setting.
